QUALITY MANAGEMENT FOR UNDERGROUND MINING EQUIPMENT

Underground mining equipment must meet specific operating, engineering and maintenance requirements. Dimensions, lifting capacity, electrical systems, safety features and equipment configurations can vary considerably between mines.

At TES Inc., our work includes manufacturing SPARTA Underground Utility Vehicles, the MineReach Series, custom underground equipment and electrical systems. We also repair and rebuild equipment already operating in the field.

These activities require careful coordination between customer requirements, engineering, manufacturing and service.

CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS & ENGINEERING

Our engineering and manufacturing teams work with customers to define equipment specifications and review requested changes. Where a configuration requires additional engineering, the technical implications must be assessed before the work is finalized.

Manufacturing quality depends on accurate technical information, suitable materials and components, skilled workmanship and clear production requirements.

This is particularly important for equipment manufactured to order, where configurations may differ between customers or between units in the same order.

INSPECTION, TESTING & DOCUMENTATION

Inspection and testing are essential elements of equipment manufacturing, repair and rebuild work.

For underground mobile equipment, relevant checks may include mechanical functions, hydraulic systems, electrical components, braking, safety systems and application-specific equipment.

ISO 9001 establishes requirements for an organization’s quality management system. It does not independently certify every machine, component or electrical assembly manufactured by that organization.

Equipment-specific certifications, inspections and approvals must be established separately for the applicable model, configuration and operating requirements.
